Our story

In 1986, when Puerto Pirámides was a small town of barely 37 residents, Malvina Trespalhié and Fernando "Mumo" Grosso arrived from Neuquén with a simple idea and a huge dream: to stay and live in that corner of Patagonia that had made them fall in love, with the sea and the whales right in front of them.

That same summer they opened a small pub in an empty hall of the old Hotel Español. They were 18, with recycled furniture, an old kitchen, and lots of drive. Everything changed the day a woman asked them:

- "Don't you make pizza?"

They didn't. But they said yes. That afternoon they learned on the fly, got yeast, ham, and cheese from the town store, and prepared their first pizza. The next day they were asked for three. A few days later they were kneading from dawn and ended up selling more than 50 a day.

That's how The Paradise was born.

Over time, Malvina added the gratinated scallops - inspired by family recipes - that would become an emblematic dish of local cuisine. The small pub grew alongside the town, which was beginning to discover its enormous tourism potential thanks to Península Valdés, the southern right whales, and the area's unique wildlife.

In those years there was no permanent electricity or major services. The spirit was pioneering: fishermen, scientists, travelers, and neighbors met at The Paradise to share conversations, music, and food. The project grew step by step, with effort, creativity, and passion.

In 1993, The Paradise opened in its current location as a restaurant and inn. Over time, it became a classic in Puerto Pirámides. Travelers from all over the world, artists, writers, athletes, and figures such as Raúl Alfonsín, Ernesto Sábato, and Michael Schumacher, among many others, sat at its tables.

But beyond the distinguished visitors, what always defined The Paradise was its essence: a family, warm, and honest space, deeply connected to nature and the identity of Patagonia.

Malvina, a conservationist and passionate about animals, devoted much of her life to caring for the environment, rescuing abandoned animals, and preserving the spirit of the place. That philosophy is still alive in every detail.

Today, decades later, we keep growing with the same conviction as in 1986: to create a place where every guest feels at home, where gastronomy and hospitality meet the sea, the Patagonian wind, and the magic of Puerto Pirámides.

The Paradise is not just a hotel and restaurant.

It is part of the town's history.

And that story continues.
